Family-friendly refreshments
Here are some fun drinks that you and your kids can enjoy together.
Betty Crocker’s Orange Smoothies serves 4; 1 cup each
This delicious drink is a healthy, fruity alternative to ice cream shakes that’s so simple to make, your kids can help.
Ingredients:
- 1 quart (4 cups) vanilla frozen yogurt, slightly softened
- ½ cup frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed
- ¼ cup milk
- Orange slices
Directions:
- Place yogurt, juice concentrate and milk in blender. Cover and blend on medium speed about 45 seconds, stopping blender occasionally to scrape sides, until thick and smooth.
- Pour mixture into 4 glasses.
- Garnish with orange slices.
Martha Stewart’s Strawberry Punch; makes 1 ½ gallons
This fruity punch packs a refreshing kick.
Ingredients:
- 4 cups water
- 3 cups sugar
- 6 cups coarsely chopped strawberries
- 2 cups coarsely chopped pineapple
- 1 cup pineapple juice
- 1 cup orange juice
- 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 2 quarts seltzer water
Directions:
- To make a simple syrup, combine the water and sugar in a large saucepan, and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Cook five minutes. Remove from heat, and set aside until syrup is completely cool.
- Transfer syrup to a large container. Add strawberries, pineapple, pineapple juice, orange juice, and lemon juice; gently stir to combine.
- Fill two ice-cube trays with punch, and place in freezer. Place remaining punch in refrigerator to chill.
- When ready to serve, remove punch from refrigerator; add the seltzer water and frozen-punch ice cubes. If transporting, add the seltzer just before serving. Serve in a large bowl or individual glasses.

Martha Stewart’s Rhubarb Iced Tea; serves 6-8
This twist on a classic drink is as easy to make as it is delicious.
Ingredients:
- 8 stalks rhubarb, cut into 3-inch lengths
- 8 cups water
- 1/3 cup sugar, or to taste
- Fresh mint sprigs, for garnish
Directions:
- In a large saucepan, combine rhubarb and water; bring to a boil, and simmer for 1 hour.
- Strain the liquid and add sugar to taste, stirring to dissolve. Allow to cool. Serve over ice with a sprig of mint.
Emeril Lagasse’s Non-alcoholic Pineapple Daiquiris; 1 cocktail
This non-alcoholic cocktail is the perfect drink to serve at your next pool party.
Ingredients:
- 1 (14.5-ounce) can pineapple chunks in juice
- 1 (12-ounce) bag frozen strawberries
- 2 tablespoons superfine sugar
- 2 medium limes, juiced
- Fresh strawberries for garnish
Directions:
- In a blender, combine pineapple, frozen strawberries, sugar, and lime juice and puree until smooth.
- Pour into glasses, garnish with fresh strawberries and serve immediately.
